# The Birth of the Idea

SolSquatters is Solana project that aims to gather NFT enthusiasts in a unique community focused on creativity and empowering creators in the Web3 space. By using team expertise and knowledge in different industries, we are building the culture and providing an extraordinary collectors experience where holders can get support for their ideas, develop new skills and impact the future of the project.

The project draws inspiration from two phenomena.

**Memes**. As the creative expression of different cultural and social topics, we see memes as a way to spark engagement and connect people around the globe. The SolSquatters idea is partially based on the squatting meme, but that is only the beginning.

**Squatting**. The action of occupying abandoned lands or buildings, and giving them a new purpose is something we believe is needed in Web3 space today. In the past two years we saw brilliant collections, but also witnessed the dark side of it. This led to a kind of paradox. Technology allows us to create wonderful things, but the lack of creativity, the focus on profit, and irrational promises have led to the demise of many collections and general disappointment among their communities.

At the moment, there is a huge space in the NFT scene and it is necessary to bring together creative individuals who will take it and turn it into what Web3 deserves to be.

**This is the mission of SolSquatters. To help create a culture that will generate added value for deserving projects and all NFT enthusiasts.**
